“I like this set-up, it's not posey or up itself” - the comment of Matt, a regular at the Open Mic. The event is probably the most relaxed, friendly and informal opportunity for singers and musicians to try their skills behind a microphone and in front of an appreciative crowd.
We like to encourage people to perform, it builds their confidence and who knows - it may give people the taste to pursue their ambitions? What we don't do is sing along to backing tracks, so there's no karaoke allowed. There are always enough musicians at the event to accompany anyone who wants to sing, providing they have a song ready. |
